Another full moon was coming soon and Beau knew he should stick to his ranch and not go anywhere near No Wolves Road. Nor should he follow the lemony scent he’d become so addicted to. But he just couldn’t help himself. It was like he was drawn to her scent.
His wolf certainly didn’t have a problem following her. It had been a couple of weeks since he’d taken that kiss. Every Monday, he’d been sure to be as far away from the kitchen as possible. He expected Rose to tell him that something happened and Eloise was no longer cooking for them. Food kept appearing and the meals were delicious.
In a strange way, Eloise had helped his pack as there was now no arguing around the dinner table about how much the food sucked. There was no competition between his men and women about who had the best food. This he did prefer.
That still didn’t give him the right to be at her house, in her backyard, and watching Eloise as she stood staring up at the night.
His wolf was long exhausted and for Beau, he was able to transform.
“You shouldn’t be here,” Eloise said.
He was in the shadows but her gaze was right on him.
“And you shouldn’t be out in the yard.”
“It’s a quiet night,” she said. “The stars are beautiful, and it’s getting cold. It won’t be long now before the first snowfall.”
She looked even more beautiful than he remembered. The smile on her lips was a temptation he just couldn’t deny himself.
He stepped out of the shadows and seeing as it was a full moon, he didn’t have a single item of clothing on.
“You’re naked,” she said.
“It’s the full moon.”
“And you’re not going to cover yourself up?”
“No.” He, like all other wolves, didn’t have a problem with nakedness. They were not like humans, who needed to stay modest.
Closing the distance between them, he stood in front of her, and Eloise tilted her head back, looking at him.
Neither of them spoke for several minutes. Words failed him.
Her blonde hair fell around her in waves and curls. At the same time, her eyes seemed to shine brighter, almost a deeper blue than he’d ever seen. She wore a sleeveless t-shirt top and shorts, but she had a wrap around her body.
“Your mom will be worried about you,” he said, looking toward the house.
“My mom and sister are not there. I’m alone.”
“You shouldn’t have said that.” He just couldn’t resist and reaching for her, he gripped the back of her neck, not too tightly, but just enough to draw her closer to him, and then he pressed his lips to hers. It was what he’d been missing these past few weeks. The feel of her lips on his.
He expected Eloise to push him away, to not want his kisses, but she accepted them, moaning his name, and as she did, he knew he couldn’t say no. Not to her kisses, not to this woman. He needed her, more than he needed to breathe.
Letting go of her neck, he ran his hands down her body, gripping her ass, and then, without any struggle at all, he lifted her up.
