Guest: Brenda and Steve

Hello and welcome Brenda Woody & Steve Tindle to my site. Brenda & Steve have so graciously agreed to be interviewed.
Before we get started Brenda and Steve will be giving one lucky commenter a copy of Tempting Triggers. Simply leave your email address for a chance to win.
So let’s begin…
1) First, tell us a little about yourself so the readers know who you are?
Brenda: Sam, thank you for having us on your blog. I’m the significant other of and co-author with Steve Tindle. I was born 5-3-1960, a published author and freelance writer for eHow, Yahoo! Associated Content, Coffeejitter and Plano Sex & Relationships Examiner, Examiner.com. Between Steve and I, we have seven grown children and four grandchildren.
Steve: I’m a Microsoft Excel/VBA programmer. Therefore, I see logic and patterns in most things. I was born 3-5-1960. Mmm, re-read Brenda’s birthday. LOL
SC: thank you for telling us more about you.
2) What made you decide to write? Was it something you accidentally began? Or what you wanted to do? Or annoying character that refused to leave until their story was told?
Brenda: I started writing poems in high school but it wasn’t until I went to college the bug bit me. My creative writing teacher told me I weaved very good stories. A few years later, I wrote a newsletter called B’s Buzz. The newsletter was so much fun to create. In 2004, I started writing a story about two pages worth. That little two pager is now Best Lover in Town co-written with Steve.
Steve: I wrote songs and poems in high school and college but never published them. Brenda sent me her two page story and we used the story to learn more about each other’s dreams and desires. We hadn’t seen each other in 30 years and were states apart. Writing together brought us closer together mentally and finally physically when Brenda move to Dallas with me.
SC: Both got the creative bug I see
3) I love hearing about first acceptances as an aspiring writer and now that I am e-published, I still love hearing about them. So tell us about that first acceptance.
Brenda: We submitted Best Lover in Town (BLT) to four publishers May 2009. Charles River Press accepted our MS and we signed a contract with them July 2009. Boy was I doing the ‘happy dance’ then we went out to eat to celebrate!
Steve: We had heard it would take a long time to become accepted by a publisher. A three month turn around is unheard of but we were very happy to accept the offer. We sent the contract to my sister’s friend who is a business lawyer since we wanted to ensure it was a good deal.
SC: 🙂
4) Tell us about your current release? Where can readers buy it from?
Brenda: Temptation Triggers, an anthology of seven erotic short stories, is our most current release. TT has been awarded five stars and two awesome reviews. Temptation is in ebook format and now available in print. The purchase links for all of our books are below.
Steve: There was going to be eleven stories in TT because it was to be released in 2011. However, there was a word count limitation and the publisher asked us to send what we had already. The other five short stories might be released as another anthology later or some might be expanded into novellas.
SC: Great news
5) What are you currently writing?
Brenda: Right now we are working on Triangle of Secrets in the final edit stage. TOS is M/M/F; our first attempt at ménage. We have notes for four other books to complete a series. We also have two more books to release this year Rainie’s Lake and Scarlett’s Cowboy.
Steve: We are also working on articles, blogs and helping other authors with their edits.
6) What inspires you most when you write?
Brenda: This should be “Who inspires me” – Steve of course. He arouses my mind, well among other things *weg*, and gets my creative juices flowing with the ideas we trigger off each other.
Steve: Yes, Brenda and I complete each other. We also get inspirations from everyday events. I was taking a break at work one day and saw a stairwell with glass walls presto a scene in Patty Melt was born. Patty Melt was titled after I took Brenda out to a Valentine’s dinner at Whataburger. Their special that day was Patty Melts – Brenda’s favorite.
7) What experiences have you had working with your publisher/s?
Brenda: Umm, Let’s just say other than Temptation Triggers being under contract the rest of our work is and will be self-published. There are awesome pub houses out there. Our experience has not been good – no marketing and lack of communication.
Steve: Brenda won’t allow me to talk to the publisher. When I do it takes days for her to get the publisher back to being civil. I’m a business man, blunt and to the point. The publisher wants to be cuddled and hand held all the time. We just don’t mesh.
SC: I have had nothing but great support. Sorry about your experiences.
8) What are you reading now?
Brenda: I’m reading Never Surrender by Deanna Jewel, a romantic time travel fiction and Betty Being Bad by Jean Paradis, a delicious erotic novella.
Steve: I’ve never been much of a reader except for Excel manuals. I do read interviews and blogs. Nothing like getting free reads from authors so remember to comment for your chance to win here.
9) What are your guilty pleasures?
Brenda: Coffee, dark chocolate and Steve. Oh wait! Steve, coffee and dark chocolate. LOL Good answer, right Steve?
Steve: Yes, good answer Brenda.  *smiling* I used to enjoy coffee but have returned to tea. I still indulge in dark chocolate and Brenda. The guilty pleasure I relish most is cuddling with Brenda on our king size waterbed with mirrors all around. I could stay there for a very long time.
SC: Behave, you two.
10) What would be your advice, if any, for other aspiring authors?
Brenda: Don’t ever think you’re not good enough to be published like I did. Write what you know best or what are you passionate about. Find an author in your genre that will take you under their wing and mentor you. And carry a pen and notepad everywhere you go to jot down the ideas that will come to you no matter where you might be at the moment.
Steve: Don’t let family and friends burst your dream. Everyone is not going to like your genre. Even JK Rowling had people not liking Harry Potter because of the topic of spells and wizardry. If you are submitting to a publisher, remember JK Rowling was denied fourteen times before Harry Potter was accepted.
