Hello and welcome Lacie Nation to my site. She has so graciously agreed to be interviewed.
So lets begin…
1) First, tell us a little about yourself so the readers know who you are?
I’m from Ga. Even when I try really hard, my accent comes through. Sometimes it even comes through online in a ya’ll, or I don’t put the g on an ing word. LOL. I write from a very personal place. I use things that I’ve been through, things that have made me stronger as a person.
SC: I’m pleased to have you on my blog.
2) What made you decide to write? Was it something you accidentally began? Or what you wanted to do? Or annoying character who refused to leave until their story was told?
I started writing as a way to get some things out of my head. By the time I was finished it was a lot! When I decided to actually write an actual story, I found a little thing called fan-fiction. I wrote that for a while until I decided to actually be brave enough to write a book and submit it. I would get these flashes of a scene in my head and create a whole story around that.
SC: I can understand that 🙂
3) I love hearing about first acceptances as an aspiring writer and now that I am e-published, I still love hearing about them. So tell us about that first acceptance.
LOL…there was a LOT of squealing, some hugs from the boyfriend, more squealing when I told my mom, and I may or may not have cried a little…I will never admit to that though!
SC: It really is a heady experience. Amazing as well.
4) Tell us about your current release? Where can readers buy it from?
So Beautifully Broken is about a girl who has been beaten down by her life. She loses herself in her addiction in order to try and forget what’s happened to her. She meets a man who touches a place in her soul she thought didn’t exist. It’s a story about healing and overcoming pain. You can get it from here http://www.secretcravingspublishing.com/LacieNation.html
SC: This books wonderful and will be on my to read pile.
5) What are you currently writing?
At the moment I’m not writing anything, however, I received a contract for my second book. It contains soldiers, a scandalous dare, a tragedy, and lots of love. I can’t wait for this one to be released!
SC: Sounds fantastic and get writing.
6) What inspires you most when you write?
Things I’ve been through. I find it healing and cleansing to take things that have made me who I am whether those things be good or bad, and write a story. I take traits from my family and friends and create characters that I hope people can relate to. By the time I finish a book, I think of my characters as my babies. I even get a little emotional when I finish one.
SC: great answer.
7) What experiences have you had working with your publisher/s? My experience has been so positive. Secret Craving has been there for me every step of the way. I’m a new author so I was nervous about the whole process. They have helped me grow as an author and I couldn’t be happier with them.
SC: Secret Cravings are wonderful 🙂
8) What are you reading now?
I haven’t had time to start a new book yet because I’ve been editing. There are several Secret Craving releases that I want to read though.
SC: Same here.
9) What are your guilty pleasures?
Vampires, I honestly think all things supernatural is becoming a problem. I have a crush on the big blue alien from Avatar, don’t judge he’s hot! Vampires always do it for me though. I love reading how people create their own spin on them.
SC: Yay, another vampire girl. Love it!
10) What would be your advice, if any, for other aspiring authors?
I would say don’t give up. If you have written something that you love, submit it. Don’t let rejection letters stop you from following your dream. Write from the heart and you will never go wrong.
SC: Excellent. Thank you for being on my blog.
This is for you to talk more about yourself, leave your blogging details, site details and generally promote yourself.
I hope you all will enjoy my musings. I have a new book coming out early 2012 called Courageous Dare. Lilly’s entire life has been filled with people who have manipulated, violated, and hurt her beyond repair. She is left feeling as though the numbing affect of drugs is the only way to cope. She’s back in her home town now and starting a new job at Tilt. What happens when she meets a group of people who understand her pain and love her in spite of it? What happens when she meets Jack, her boss and former addict? Will she be able to live a life filled with love and people who support her not tear her down?
Follow Lilly and Jack though their relationship as they fight demons from Lilly’s past that come back with a vengeance.
Jack could see her out of the corner of his eye, crumpled on her knees, her hands fisted in her hair. Her eyes were on them, but indicated she didn’t know what was going on anymore. Lilly truly looked trapped inside her own mind. Something frightening to see.
The man Jack had pinned looked stunned. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to…”
Nick, seeing what had happened, ran up to help. He tried to go to Lilly, but she screamed again when he touched her shoulder.
Cade tightened his grip against the man he was holding. He looked at Lilly then back to his captor. “You don’t touch a woman unless she asks you to!” Cade shouted as he shoved him to the exit.
“Nick, get this piece of shit out of my bar!” Jack pulled on the collar of the man’s shirt and slammed him against the wall again. Jack’s voice was low and steely as he spoke, causing the man to shiver as Jack threw him towards Nick. “You don’t ever touch her.”
Nick grabbed him roughly, causing the guy to stumble as he dragged him.
Jack looked towards Lilly. Seeing her like that physically hurt. Rocking back and forth, her eyes never blinking as they darted around the room with absolute horror flashing across her features.
“No, no, no… please.”
The way Lilly cried out was heartbreaking. With almost no volume to her voice, the amount of pain and fear rang in her tone louder than the music blaring through the club. Jack knew it would haunt his dreams for the rest of his life. He had never heard anyone sound so beaten.
The pain radiating off of Lilly was palpable and felt as though it was his pain as well, crashing down on him, weighing him down. As if someone knocked the wind out of him, his knees buckled. Before he knew it, he inched towards her on his knees with an outstretched hand, wanting nothing more than to pull her into his arms and protect her from everything.
“Lilly.” Jack couldn’t say anything else due of the lump in his throat.
When a lone tear streamed down Lilly’s face, Jack couldn’t stop himself. His hand reached for her face to wipe the tear away. Lilly came back from where her mind had taken her, if only a little. Jack felt like there wasn’t anyone else around, like it was just her and him on the floor in his club.
He picked her up, not thinking it might send her further into her fear, and walked quickly to his office. Closing the door with his elbow, he gently set her on her feet, still holding on to her.
“You’re safe now, Lilly.” Jack wished with everything in him that she would feel safe.
“I’m tired of being afraid.” Lilly’s voice broke when she spoke. Her eyes pleaded, begging for it to just go away.
“What are you afraid of?” Jack kept his voice soft, a need to hold her growing stronger with every tremble of her body.
“Breathing… s-sleeping…” Another tear rolled down Lilly’s cheek. “Life.” She choked on her words.
